Mohaka Beach

Description
The beach away from the mouth offers snapper, kahawai, dogfish, gurnard, trevally and at times those pesky paddle crabs. Most bait will do the trick. If the crabs are about, try a piece of squid or octopus and add a cork or float to your trace to try and keep it out of reach.
The southern side of Mohaka Beach is an excellent spot for kontiki or kite fishing during north-westerly winds. You need to get the baits out quickly past the crab population.
This beach is not safe for swimming.
