Whakarewarewa is the legacy and home of the Thourangi Ngti Whiao people, who have been sharing their unique way of life with visitors from all around the world for over two hundred years. Our Living Mori Village is owned and operated by local residents, providing an intimate look into day-to-day life in a Living Mori Village. Discover the unique geothermal landscape of Te Whakarewarewa Valley. Being the only living geothermal Mori village, we are gifted with geothermal vents that provide a life-giving energy resource.See our boiling hot pools and bubbling mud, and learn how our residents utilise and respect the ever-changing forces beneath our land. Open every day (except Christmas Day) 8.30am - 5.00pm (last ticket sales are at 4:15pm) No camping or overnight parking allowed.
