Description

The ridge walk enables you to see the amazing predator-proof fence up close, and also allows you to take advantage of the wonderful vistas on offer from the ridgeline. Starting opposite the boat ramp, the track meanders through some beautiful bush before meeting the fence line, you will then follow the fence around part of the perimeter of the reserve, before heading back down the old road, which then meets up approximately half way along the lake walkway track. Allow 3-5 hours for this approximately 6km track. Medium to high fitness level required for the 1220 steps and back country style track. Rotokare Scenic Reserve is open all day, every day to the public. Please remember to stop before entering the gates to check your vehicles, bags, and boats for pests and predators and remember to leave your pets at home.
