Nice forest with easy, maze-like, walking trails. Over 5600 hectares of forest awaits you to enjoy and explore at your leisure. If you love the outdoors and want to experience nature at its best this area is definitely for you! The forest is most well known for the network of superb mountain biking and walking tracks and for the magnificent stand of Californian Coast Redwoods. These towering trees, along with numerous other species and the fresh forest air, combine to create an invigorating atmosphere and a truly unique and special environment. Main access gates to the car parks are open: 5.30am to 8.30pm at the entry to The Redwoods on Long Mile Rd 6.00am to 8.30pm at the entry to the Rotorua Mountain Bike carpark on Waipa State Mill Rd. There is no vehicle access into the forest for the general public. Entry to the forest is FREE. Dogs must be kept on a lead.
