Description
Built in 1897, Asbestos Cottage had remedial work completed in 1997. It is available as accommodation for trampers in Kahurangi National Park. There are no fees. Bookings not required - first come, first served.
Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use).
4WD is recommended on the access road into the Cobb valley (Cobb Dam Road) in winter, due to ice and/or snow.
The cottage is set in a grassy bush clearing with views over the valley towards Takaka.
