Description

This paid campground offers toilets, cold showers, drinking water, swimming and a dump point. CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES ONLY. Maximum stay 3 nights Access to the overnight camp ground is off Marine Parade. The camp site is right on the edge of the beach, ideal for an evening's stroll along the boardwalks or the beach itself. From Marine Parade you can watch the Little Penguin (Koror) coming ashore at dusk. The Little Penguin is the smallest species of penguin, at full stretch (35-43 cms) they're not much taller than a rugby ball standing on end. It's only a short walk into town and to the Bay Hill. Simply head for the 'big steps' or lift which will take you up to The Piazza, The Bay Hill and Stafford Street where we have a plethora of bars and restaurants. The Port of Timaru is a busy place at night, light sleepers may want some earplugs. Please camp responsibly: Always use a toilet Please dont litter Please dispose of toilet waste sensibly Respect your fellow campers Be prepared - Weather in New Zealand can change unexpectedly so make sure you check the forecast for any warnings and always carry appropriate provisions
