Description

This is a basic four-bunk hut in the Hokitika area. There are no fees. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). Dunns Hut is located in Dunns Creek basin in the Taipo valley. Dunns Hut Route starts downstream of Mid Taipo Hut on the true left of the Taipo. Follow the river flats down from Mid Taipo Hut and cross Hura Creek. The track starts on the bush edge at the downriver end of the flat. It climbs up a gut and over a low bush saddle into Dunns basin. This route continues on to Newton Saddle, over to Newton Creek Hut and down to join with the Arahura Track.
