Description

This is a 20-bunk hut in the Greymouth area. It sits on the edge of Lake Daniell. You can swim in the shallow lake in the summer or fish for trout. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Facilities Bunks in 2 bunkrooms. Water source cold water from rain collection tank. Heating wood burner with coal provided in the winter. Space for camping outside the hut. Camping is also possible a little further around the lake in the open forest. Dedicated fire pits at the hut. Fires are not allowed outside these fire pits. Jetty. Huts have basic facilities. You'll need to take: Sleeping bag. Cooking stove, pots/pans and utensils. Toilet paper. Rubbish bag. Newspaper/firelighters and matches/lighter for the wood burner/fire. Torch. Time from nearest road end: SH7, 5 km east of Springs Junction: 3 hr on Lake Daniell Track.
