Description

This free DOC campsite is available for non self-contained as well as certified self-contained vehicles including tents etc. This site is a good base for recreational activities around the Twizel area or as an overnight stay in a picturesque setting. There are 30 non-powered sites with 2 long drop toilets. Maximum length of stay is four nights. There is no fee. Bookings not required - first come, first served. When turning off from the state highway turn onto the canal and travel up the right hand side (ignore the 'private road' sign) and go along till you see the 'Lake Poaka' sign that will take you down a slope into the campsite. Do not turn off from the road until the DOC sign appears. *Take care on the gravel road. *Fires are not permitted at any time throughout all of MacKenzie District. *Dogs are not permitted.
