This is a standard six-bunk hut located in Mount Richmond Forest Park in the Pelorus River valley. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilet and water from a stream. Times from nearest huts Captains Creek Hut: 2 hr Rocks Hut: 3 hr Roebuck Hut: 4 hr Mt Fell Hut to Middy Creek Hut Mt Fell Hut: 8 hr (10 km) From the summit of Mt Fell the track drops steeply down a loose rocky bluff to follow along an undulating ridge covered in scrubby mountain beech forest, before climbing to the top of North Peak(1496 m). Climb down a steep drop-over at the north western end of North Peak, down a narrow rock chute, then along a rock ledge. These sections, have wire ropes to act as handrails. The track then follows down the ridge to a saddle just before Conical Knob. Just beyond this saddle the track forks. The right hand fork continues along the main ridge, climbing over Conical Knob and then down the long leading ridge, before finally dropping steeply down to Middy Creek Hut. Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass that gives unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 6 or 12-month period.
