Description

Camp on the coast at this standard DOC campsite. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Camping fees apply. Pay cash on arrival at the self-registration stand at the campsite. Striking cliff faces can be seen and Purakaunui Falls are not far. There is a good surf beach south of the camp. There are 40 non-powered sites suitable for tents, campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Facilities include non-flush toilet, water (not treated - boil before use) and picnic tables. Fires are not permitted at any time. Please note that the paddocks surrounding the campground is private land. Please do not enter these areas. Turn off SH1 at Balcutha. Drive south past Owaka until Ratanui turnoff. Follow Purakaunui Falls Rd to Long Point Rd, then follow Purakaunui Bay Rd to end. Narrow and gravel road. Dogs on a leash only.
