Freedom camping permitted in CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES ONLY. Sutton Salt Lake is New Zealand's only inland salt lake, with water about half as salty as seawater. A 3.5 km self-guided loop walk to the lake and back is an easy way to enjoy the tranquility and natural history of this stunning landscape. There are no facilities.
Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.
