Description

This is a serviced 12-bunk hut in the Golden Bay area. Bookings not required - first come, first served. 4WD is recommended on the access road into the Cobb valley (Cobb Dam Road) in winter, due to ice and/or snow. Located in Cobb Valley and Kahurangi National Park. 2 hours one way, easy walk. Walk up to Sylvester Hut as a day walk or overnight tramp with children - enjoy great views from the hut and explore a series of lakes on the open tops behind the hut. Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). Before you go, buy 1 Serviced Hut Ticket (green for adults, orange for youth) or 3 Standard Hut Tickets (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put these in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Serviced and Standard huts for a 6 or 12 month period.
