Description

Freedom camping is permitted in the Waitaki District for vehicles that are certified self-contained according to the New Zealand Standard (NZS 5465:2001). This means vehicles must have a toilet, wastewater tank, and rubbish facilities on board, with the appropriate certification displayed. Campers are allowed to stay for a maximum of three nights in a four-week consecutive period in designated areas, while certain locations are prohibited for freedom camping. These regulations are outlined in the Waitaki District Responsible Freedom Camping Bylaw 2021. This free campground offers swimming. It is accessible to motorbikes, RVs, camper trailers and caravans. You must be fully self-contained.
