Description
This is the former location of Lake Howden Hut, the first stop on the Divide end of the Routeburn Track. It was severely damaged with people inside during a landslide event in 2020.
DOC has decided to remove the hut and has no plans to replace it.
It is now a day use area offering nice scenery, wildlife viewing and walking tracks. Dogs are not permitted.
No camping is allowed here.
Proceed to the Divide Shelter to exit, or the Greenstone Campsite for overnight camping.
