This is the official Aoraki start/finish point on the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail. This start/finish point is conveniently located at the DOC White Horse Hill Campsite.
Due to requiring a helicopter transfer across the Tasman River, many people beginning this epic cycle tour from the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean at Oamaru choose an alternative start/finish at Lake Tekapo.
